New Fashion Trend?

Tonight Aria was able to get one sock off, but had difficulty with the second, so rather than complain about it, she just left it the way it was all night long while she played and ran around the entire house.

What'd You Say?

Jeremy and Aria played well together on the second day of game "night". Here they are experimenting with Brian's vuvuzela. I also did get some photos of them shouting at the same time into both ends, but this photo of Aria's expression was just too funny. (Don't worry: they weren't really shouting that loudly into the horn.)

Game Night 2011

We hosted the first game night for the year today. Here is the gang playing a game of Stone Age. Hopefully, this will only be the first of a series of game nights this year.

Escape In Progress

The child gates we had up to prevent her from running throughout the house are no longer effective: Aria figured out how to do it earlier this week, but I caught her on film tonight making her "escape" from the living room.

Start 'em Young

Aria defends the house from zombies tonight as she "helps" Brian play Plants vs. Zombies on the DS.

Glow Worms

Aria on the balance bean at our Glow Worms program preview class. She was definitely the youngest in the class, and considering that (and the fact that she had to skip dinner to attend the class), she did pretty well. She enjoyed using the equipment and being her active self, but was still impatient in waiting her turn and is just not ready to listen to the instructor yet. Still undecided on when to enroll her full time - perhaps another class date/time where there are more kids her age, or maybe wait a few months... At least I got a good workout out of it as well tonight, chasing her around and doing "Aria bicep curls"...

All Tricked Out

Aria enjoys her tricked out shopping cart on our grocery run to Safeway tonight. The armband that I bought to use my phone during exercising doubles as a media center for her to watch her Sesame Street videos. Go technology - this mom's best friend!

Happy to be Home

Even though it was a lot of fun and we got to visit with friends that we haven't seen in a while, I think we were all happy to be home. Aria didn't fall asleep until the last half hour of our long trek home, but she adapted to being home pretty quickly. She kept yelling for her "bwum!" Here she is playing a lively riff for me and the camera.

With the amount of snow that fell right before we arrived, we were lucky enough to be able to play right outside the cabin. Brian created a little sled ramp right outside the door for the kiddies to enjoy. Here he is sending Aria off on her first sled run (she is obviously having more fun in the YouTube video than in this still shot). But since she wasn't fully equipped (her snow boots fell off as soon as we set her in the snow), our play time in the snow was short but full of giggles.

Cabin Playtime

After a long drive to Tahoe and a big dinner out, everyone takes some time to relax and play with the kiddies in the cabin. Aria and Aiden seemed to play pretty well together (most of the time) and Evin amused himself (and everyone else) just by being such a happy baby.

All Packed Up

Aria is all clean from her bath and watching some Timmy Time while Brian and I pack up and get ready for our Tahoe trip. Fun in the snow - here we come (after a pitstop and night's stay in Folsom first)!

"Tropical" Storm

Not much going on today that wasn't work-related (finishing up our E2E testing for 11.02 release for work is a separate story and probably boring for those not involved, so I'll just say "yay!" and spare everyone the details). I thought I would take the opportunity to document both the gloomy weather we've been having lately and the semi-troipcal view outside our new bedroom window. I love the fact that we can see a pair of huge palm trees right in our own backyard (but not having to have actual palm trees in our backyard). Although the rain does make for a depressing day, at least we can test the seals on all of our new windows (so far so good!) and it means that we will definitely encounter some snow in Tahoe this weekend - win-win!

Show Me Your Teeth!

A shot of a very tired Aria showing us her pearly whites. Her top (and bottom) incisors are almost completely in (finally)!

Happy 80th Birthday Dad

Tulips for my dad on what would have been his 80th birthday... I love you dad!

When I Grow Up...

... I want to have cross trainers just like Mama. Aria graduated from pushing my shoes around like toy cars (and biting on them), to actually playing dress up in them today.

IKEA Fairy

Aria was such a trooper this weekend: we were doing a lot of clearning, rearranging of furniture, and shopping most of yesterday and today so she spent a lot of time with Po Po at her house. So when she came home, she saw that the IKEA fairy had made a visit to our home and was ecstatic about her new table and chairs. It was the first (and practically the only) thing she noticed when she came back home tonight and she wasted no time climbing and moving the chairs all around the game room.

Take note of how pristine the table and chairs are in this photo now - we'll see how long that lasts. Not 5 minutes after I took this photo, she christened it with new crayon scribbles. Good thing I bought the washable crayons! ;-)

Sleepover at Po Po's

Aria and Po Po get cozy in bed this morning. Since the window work was still being done at our house, we thought it best if we spent the night at Po Po's house.

The New Hole in the Wall

A little sooner than expected, but we got the new window for our bedroom done today. Here is the view from our bedroom into our backyard. Now we will have a window to the outside world (literally) - hooray! Thanks to Brian for coordinating all of the window replacements and also for taking this photo (and contributing to the blog title). Now onto the next challenge of how to rearrange all of the furniture in the room to accomodate our new view.

Got a cute shot of Aria today and her unconventional way of eating noodles. Yumm!

Update: lots of comments on how it looks like Aria is flossing. ;-) Didn't even occur to me, but it does look like that's what's she's doing...

Clean & Polish

Thanks to Brian who helped bring my rings back to the jeweler today (Ani's in San Francisco) to get them a much needed cleaning and  polish.. I was supposed to go back right after our wedding over 4 years ago, but just haven't gotten back around to it. Here they are all refreshed - I tried to capture as much sheen as possible, but am still very much an amateur photographer...

Aria's First Picture

At least behind the camera. With only a little help from me, Aria takes her first picture with my camera. Here it is, completely untouched (no Photoshop)!

"Public" Storage

It's more like our shared storage, but we did bring over our bikes and the new bike trailer over to my mom's shed this afternoon, freeing up some space in our garage. It's nice to have this little extra storage that is not too far away. Aria seemed to enjoy the short bike ride over (all except for having to wear her helmet - that she didn't like so much), so hopefully we will be able to take her out again soon.

Superbowl XLV

Although the halftime show got bashed by critics, it was at least an entertaining show at our house. Aria jumped and danced through much of the performance with Brian.

Bike Trailer - Trial Run

Brian was able to put the bike trailer together this afternoon, but since Aria had an extra long nap today, we didn't get a chance to take her out in it yet (maybe next weekend?). We did let her take a "trial run" in it, just to see if she would enjoy it, and after a little persuading, she did sit in it without much fuss. We'll see if that changes though when we take her for an actual ride (and have to put her bike helmet on)...

Can I Play Too?

Aria watches as Willbe & Jason play pinball tonight before playing some board games. It's been a while since the pinabll machine has been turned on and played (and been a while since we've played some games), so it was a new (old) experience for all.

"Gung Hay Fat Choy!"

Aria celebrates the new Year of the Rabbit by giving the lucky money envelope from Po Po a big kiss.

Spring is Coming!

In a completely unstaged photo, Aria looks, but can't see her shadow on Groundhog's Day 2011. :-P (Okay, maybe it was just a little bit staged, but we had fun trying to get Aria to pose just right.) I'm looking forward to warmer weather and longer days so we can get out and do more (although I can't really complain with the weather we've been getting here lately during the afternoons.).

Arts & Crafts Time

Aria concentrates as she has her very first Arts & Crafts time with me today. Since it's her 20-month birthday today, I wanted to get her started early and nurture her creative side ASAP. She seemed to enjoy placing all the crayons on the paper as part of her creative process instead of using them to draw, but with a little help and encouragement, she created quite the little masterpiece, complete with doodles and stickers.
